Researchers are invited to submit a preprint for publication on this server. All preprints will be moderated to determine if they fit the objectives and scope of this server. Those deemed suitable will be published and the author will be notified.
Before submitting a preprint, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to share any materials included with the preprint, such as photos, documents, and data sets. All authors identified in the preprint must give their consent to be identified as authors. Where applicable, the research must be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the country of the study.
All authors wishing to publish in LatArXiv are requested to take care in preparing their manuscripts according to these guidelines. Submissions to LatArXiv should be current and refereeable. Material that contains offensive language, unscientific content or is plagiarized may be removed. We only accept submissions from authors who are registered on our platform (https://preprints.latarxiv.org/index.php/latarxiv/user/register) and have ORCID (https://orcid.org/register).
When you are sure that your preprint meets these standards, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

LatArXiv Scope
Type of article
LatArXiv publishes original and refereeable articles, covering the following types: article, review, conference paper, data descriptor, essay, short report, case report, communication, short note, technical note or hypothesis.
Other types of articles may be accepted at the discretion of the editorial team. The following are not published: editorials, discussion papers, and coursework.
Sections
LatArXiv is a PrePrint server open to any author who wishes to make available a scientific article prior to or during peer review. For this reason, LatArXiv has a main section called Open where you can openly publish articles that meet the requirements and standards of the server. To publish in this section, it is essential to adapt the preprint to the format described here with the cover page template included.
Additionally, the server has exclusive sections for member journals or publishers where preprint articles will be published according to presentation and publication standards related to the final environment of the revised article, i.e. the publisher or journal.
Languages
Papers are accepted in the following languages: Spanish, English and Portuguese.
Academic discipline
LatArXiv is a multidisciplinary platform that offers a preprints service, focused on disseminating and making citable early versions of research papers, from all areas, including Natural and Exact Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Medical and Health Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Social Sciences and Economics, Arts and Humanities, Environmental and Earth Sciences.
Geospatial coverage
LatArXiv is an open platform with the objective of disseminating and achieving early positioning of research conducted in the Latin American context. LatArXiv can also include preprints from a broader context such as Ibero-America and other geographic regions but with the Latin American context as the object of study.
Complementary data and archives
At LatArXiv we encourage open access, rapid dissemination of academic content, along with transparency and integrity, so authors are required to have access to all data associated with their submission, if there are no legal or confidentiality restrictions in doing so.
Updating and versioning
LatArXiv allows authors to update the version of their papers whenever they deem it necessary.
If a preprint is subsequently published in a journal, the journal version will be linked to the abstract page, ensuring that readers have access to the latest version. The author or editor is obliged to report the corresponding update.
Formatting guidelines
Preprint articles for the Open section must be uploaded in PDF format and the LatArXiv template cover page must be attached to the preprint PDF. It should not include institutional logos or visual elements of branding or marketing.
The first page of the preprint for the Open section should contain the title, list of authors, abstract, keywords, contact information of the corresponding author and affiliations (complete, not in acronyms) of all authors. In addition, a cover page with the main metadata should be added.
Citation styles: Due to its multidisciplinary nature and working with different journals, LatArxiv accepts a variety of citation styles. Consistency in the choice and use of citation styles is evaluated. We recommend APA 7th edition, MLA, Chicago or, in the case of associated journals, the specific citations used by the journal.
Manuscripts should contain the basic information of a scientific article, such as: title, authors, detailed institutional affiliation, ORCID, abstract, keywords, full text, references and other elements considered necessary.
LatArxiv requires the use of the following template for submissions. The format of the article is free or according to the requirements of the journal, but initially it must have the cover page with its respective metadata in the template of the language of the article.
The following Templates should be downloaded, filled out, saved and merged with the article. They are editable PDFs that can be easily edited if you open them with Adobe Acrobat. Below we show you how to complete them.
