Contemporary social movements can draw important lessons for their own strengthening from the historical example set by Emiliano Zapata’s Liberation Army of South and the Commune of Morelos during the Mexican Revolution. This example demonstrates the viability of a revolutionary socialist project, understood and defined as a libertarian philosophy of praxis. The objective of this study is to analyze the characteristics of the Zapatista movement in relation to those of this revolutionary socialism, in order to determine whether it contributes to demonstrating and advancing the feasibility of such a project. The research design is qualitative, historical, documentary. It was found that the Zapatista movement generally embodied the main characteristics that define the political project of the libertarian philosophy of praxis.
