Introduction: Traumatic injuries in primary dentition have a prevalence of 10-15%, mainly affecting male children aged 1 to 3 years. These injuries are mostly caused by falls during the development of motor skills and primarily involve the anterior teeth, presenting as fractures, luxations, or avulsions. Objective: To present the prevalence, types, and associated factors of traumatic injuries in primary dentition through a literature review. Methodology: A search was conducted in PubMed, including articles published from 2019 onwards, in English, focusing mainly on the prevalence of traumatic injuries in primary teeth. Results: In primary dentition, the most common injuries are luxations and intrusions, frequent in children aged 1 to 3 years due to falls and play activities. Discussion: The evidence supports that immature motor coordination is a major cause leading to luxation and intrusion of primary teeth in children under 7 years old, highlighting the importance of prevention, early detection, and proper follow-up. Conclusion: In early childhood, falls at home frequently cause luxations and intrusions in primary dentition, with a higher incidence in males.
