Postales de Leningrado is a poignant 2007 film by director Mariana Rondón that reflects on the historical complexity of Venezuela's armed struggle starting in the 1960s. The film intertwines personal narratives of children left orphaned due to political violence with broader themes of guerrilla warfare and state repression. Utilizing Michel Foucault's theories on biopolitics and archival power, the analysis examines how historical narratives often suppress marginalized voices, emphasizing the importance of personal testimony in reconstructing memory. Ultimately, Postales de Leningrado not only serves as a cinematic exploration of a turbulent epoch but also challenges the prevailing historical discourses, highlighting the need for a counter-archive that honors those erased from history.
