Abstract

Dengue, a viral disease transmitted by mosquitoes, is a public health problem in Paraguay. Patients recovering from dengue often experience persistent pain, which affects their quality of life. The objective of the study was to evaluate the functional impact of pain in post-dengue patients in the city of Ñemby during the first half of 2024. 100 patients diagnosed with dengue who completed the acute phase of the disease in the last 2 months were studied. . Data were collected using standardized questionnaires (VAS, SF-36). Most patients reported moderate to severe pain. Older age, female sex, and comorbidities were associated with greater pain intensity. Patients with post-dengue pain had lower scores on the dimensions of physical function, physical role, bodily pain, and general health compared to the general population. Post-dengue pain is a common problem that affects the quality of life of patients. Functional assessment of pain is crucial to understand the impact of this symptom and to guide appropriate management. More research is needed to better understand the pathophysiology of post-dengue pain and to develop effective interventions for its management.
