Physiotherapeutic procedures used in the approach to the anterior interosseous nerve syndrome, according to updated evidence

Anterior interosseous nerve syndrome is a neuropathy that significantly limits hand function. Despite its impact on patients' quality of life, there is a notable lack of up-to-date scientific evidence regarding the most effective physiotherapy procedures for its treatment. This literature review aims to fill this knowledge gap and determine which physiotherapy interventions are most commonly used and effective in addressing this pathology. The review results show that, although there are some case studies describing the use of physiotherapy in patients with anterior interosseous nerve syndrome, there is limited robust and up-to-date scientific evidence. Most of the studies analyzed focus on diagnosis and surgical treatment, neglecting the importance of physiotherapy rehabilitation. Physiotherapy procedures mentioned in the studies include mobility exercises, strengthening, and neuromobilization techniques, but there is no clear consensus on the most appropriate treatment protocol. The lack of solid evidence makes it difficult to develop evidence-based clinical practice guidelines for physiotherapy in anterior interosseous nerve syndrome. More research is needed to determine the effectiveness of different physiotherapy interventions and establish standardized treatment protocols. In conclusion, physiotherapy has a potentially important role in the rehabilitation of patients with anterior interosseous nerve syndrome. However, more research is needed to determine best practices and optimize clinical outcomes.
